Beyond Excited!

A few nights ago just as I was about to fall asleep, my phone pinged. Yes, I know. I should have left it and usually I do. But something made me take a sneaky peek and I couldn't believe it! The lovely Clare Helen Welsh tweeted that I had won a MEGA GIVEAWAY! And the prize - a huge bundle of signed picture books (some not yet published) from amazing, inspirational authors! As you can imagine, I was now wide awake, but VERY happy!

Then today this beautiful book arrived, with a lovely message from the Author Jane Clarke. Thank you Jane.

The story begins with an introduction to Florence Firefly, who is lost and desperately trying to find her way home. Children are asked to help Florence by encouraging her to fly faster. And with each page-turn, help her to decide which way she should go. There is another lovely way children are encouraged to interact, but I won't spoil that for you!

Firefly Home is a gentle and calming story. Perfect to read at anytime but especially before bed. The illustrations are beautiful. Britta has brilliantly captured all the feelings Florence is experiencing and the bright yellow against the dark blue background works so well.

I dare you to read this story and not feel touched! Memories of my childhood flooded back and readers who love insects will thoroughly enjoy this book.
