This is my first picture book from author Smriti Halls and I love how it addresses the topic of climate change in such a fun way. Children from 3 upwards can learn about the issues our planet is facing and feel inspired to make changes in their lives.
The fun begins right from the start when a small boy finds an elephant in his kitchen! Spread 2 had me in stitches and the illustration is wonderful.

The hilarious rhyming romp continues as more animals find refuge in the boy's house, until they all gather together and explain what is happening to their own homes.
There is a wonderful double page spread at the end of the book setting out all the things we can do. From recycling and planting more trees, to saving energy and water. It would make a great poster for schools, reminding pupils at a glance how small changes can make a big difference.
The illustrations by Ella Okstad are bright and colourful and the expressions had me smiling throughout. Especially the tiger sitting on the loo, insisting he's only doing a number one!
I also like that Egmont have made a point of using vegetable-based inks for the illustrations.
A great book for both adults and children.
